Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted at That Artsy Reader Girl. Each week you compile a list of ten books which coincide with that week’s theme. You can find everything you need to know about joining in here!
This week’s theme is all about the books on our winter TBR! I’ve put together a list of books that either seem like perfect winter reads to me, or books that I’m currently in the mood for me, but whether I actually get to these books or not remains to be seen. I haven’t been reading very regularly lately, I’ve had too much other stuff going on, but I’m looking forward to having two weeks off over Christmas and New Year where I’ll hopefully get plenty of cosy reading done!

The Winter of the Witch by Katherine Arden: These books are the perfect books to read in the middle of winter, so it’s time for me to complete the trilogy. I’m planning to borrow this one from the library!
The Wolf in the Whale by Jordanna Max Brodsky: I’ve heard so many good things about this book and it sounds like the ideal read for winter, so it’s another one I’m borrowing from the library.
Jade Legacy by Fonda Lee: I’m so, so nervous about the final book in this fantastic trilogy, but I can’t wait to find out what happens.
Elatsoe by Darcie Little Badger: That cover screams winter to me! I’ve heard great things about this YA novel, which I believe has ace rep!
Northern Wrath by Thilde Kold Holdt: This chonky historical fantasy sounds like the perfect book to pick up in the middle of winter.

Legendborn by Tracy Deonn: I’m moving this from my autumn TBR to my winter TBR because I’m determined to get to it soon. I’ve heard so many good things about it!
Dark Rise by C.S. Pacat: Pacat is an author I keep meaning to try, especially as I’d like to read more fantasy by Australian authors, and I ended up picking up the audiobook a couple of weeks ago so I’d like to give it a try.
Thief’s Magic by Trudi Canavan: Speaking of audiobooks by Australian fantasy authors, my library has a lot of Canavan’s and this story sounds right up my street so it’s waiting for me on my BorrowBox app!
Amari and the Night Brothers by B.B. Alston: I know. I still haven’t read this, even though I’ve heard nothing but praise for it all year – especially from Dini. Middle Grade might be just what I need this winter!
Ship of Magic by Robin Hobb: Lately I’ve been feeling the itch to return to Hobb’s Realm of the Elderlings, so I guess it’s about time I made a start on the Liveship Traders.
There are some fantastic books on your list!! I just finished Jade Legacy two days ago and WOW!!!! I’m trying to write my review and it’s so HARD! I always have the hardest time with books I love!!

I should read Arden’s book this winter, too! And Elatsoe is also on my TBR. Both are great options for a winter TBR! 🙂

I hope you enjoy all of these! I wasn’t much of a fan of The Bear and The Nightingale, so I decided not to continue with the series, but if the other two are as wintery as the first book, they’re definitely good reads for winter.

Personally I’m not sure what to read this winter aside from a couple of books but your list looks really great, Jess!

In making my list, I found that I had a hard snap back from all the romance I’Ve been reading this year back to the mysteries and thrillers that have consumed me for thirty years! I don’t read a ton of fantasy, but I’m going to check out the Lee series…I’m going to try to be maybe a little more balanced in my reading next year, and this looks good. 🙂
