Did I read my Autumn TBR? | 2021

Tomorrow I’ll be sharing my Winter TBR for Top Ten Tuesday so, as always, it’s time to take a look back at my Autumn TBR and see how many of the books on it I read…

Under the Whispering Door by TJ Klune

A Spindle Splintered by Alix E. Harrow

Legendborn by Tracy Deonn

The Eye of the World by Robert Jordan

Kingdom of Souls by Rena Barron

Vespertine by Margaret Rogerson

Courting Darkness by Robin LaFevers

The Woman They Could Not Silence by Kate Moore

The King of Crows by Libba Bray

The Factory Witches of Lowell by C.S. Malerich

Ha. Yeah, my autumn reading was RUBBISH.

I managed to read A Spindle Splintered – and I enjoyed it – and I did make a start on several other books on this list, but I’ve been very, very slumpy this autumn. There’s so much I want to read but my new job, which I’m really enjoying, has been taking up a lot of my brain power, and when I finish work I mostly just want to watch Netflix or spend hours on YouTube.

Weirdly I feel more worn out by 2021 than I did by 2020. I was so determined to push through 2020 that I was able to escape into reading, but this year it’s felt like my brain’s been rebelling against it and demanding something else to do. I’ve also been wanting to write my own fiction a lot more this year, and I tend to stray from reading when I’m writing.

Even though I’ve read some amazing books this year, on the whole 2021 has been a bit of a meh reading year for me. Fingers crossed 2022 is better, and that I’m able to read more of my winter TBR!

How did your autumn reading go?

Hopefully you get more of a chance to read these, you have some great books on here. Although I can totally agree with not having read much at all through autumn. I also read a lot more last year – or at least the beginning of this year. Currently I always feel too tired to sit down and read properly! Hopefully 2022 looks up!

I relate to this SO hard. Gosh. This has been one of my worst reading years. I guess my brain is still trying to recover, too.

I enjoyed A Spindle Splintered as well, and now I’m really looking forward to the sequel. 🙂 Though I have to say, 2021 has felt like a harder year to me, as well. I think it’s because I had mentally written off 2020… but we got the vaccines in 2021 and so I had much higher expectations for it. And yet, the world being what it was, 2021 was really just the sequel to 2020. But I think that 2021 was harder because it didn’t match what we expected of it. Here’s hoping we get a better experience in 2022.

Glad you’re enjoying the new job! What does the marketing job at a publicist entail exactly? And yes I’m actually interested in the nitty gritty details 😊
