Tome Topple is back from 15th-28th March, and after a fairly slumpy start to my reading year I’m ready to try and tackle some of the beasty books on my TBR! Tome Topple was created by Sam @ thoughtsontomes and you can find all the information here:
Over the past year I think I’ve got much better at not being intimidated by some of the bigger books on my TBR, but it still happens. For Tome Topple the aim is to read books longer than 500 pages and, as a fantasy reader, there are plenty of books like that on my TBR! So, what am I reading?
My priority this Tome Topple are two buddy reads! I used to be dreadful at buddy reading, but I think I’ve got much better at it over the years. My friend Natalie @ Too Short to Read and I have read books together before and we’ve both recently acquired a copy of The Mask of Mirrors by M.A. Carrick which I’ve been looking forward to. It’s Italian-inspired fantasy with a con artist at its centre, what’s not to love?
Then Dini @ dinipandareads and I are also going to buddy read Jade City by Fonda Lee, which I’m very excited to finally get to. This book has been on my TBR for years and I don’t think I’ve seen a single bad review of it, so I can’t wait to get to it and to read it with Dini!
I’d also like to take advantage of BorrowBox this year—now that the weather’s getting nicer I’ll be able to go out for more walks, which will mean being able to listen to more audiobooks—so I’d love to try and get through Nottingham by Nathan Makaryk or The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas. The Count of Monte Cristo is the one classic I’d love to conquer, but it’s so big that whenever I pick up the paperback I can’t get into it, so I’m wondering if I’ll do better with the audiobook. Nottingham, on the other hand, is a fairly recent release which I believe is going to retell the Robin Hood legend and I’m so intrigued by it.
