The Medieval-A-Thon, created by Holly Hearts Books, is back for another round from 10th January – 10th February, with a complete revamp that looks like so much fun!
As always, the point of the Medieval-A-Thon is to read books to improve your position in medieval society, from peasantry to royalty…

This time around, though, there are prompts based around certain medieval professions! I’ve always been fascinated by religion, and I’m obsessed with books set in nunneries, monasteries or holy cities, so of course I have to go with the Clergy Profession. My aroace ass wants to be a nun queen.

Read an underrated book

I’d like to try and cross off at least one of the books on my Winter TBR, so I’m going to go with Northern Wrath by Thilde Kold Holdt! I have an eARC of this one and I’m very excited to read some Norse fantasy by a Danish author. It was released in October but so far only has 101 ratings on Goodreads, so I’m counting that as underrated!
Read a book about books

I’ve owned The Binding by Bridget Collins since it came out and still haven’t read it, but plenty of my friends have really enjoyed so it’s about time I give it a go!
Read a book with a person on the cover

Hall of Smoke by H.M. Long is also on my Winter TBR and, rather fittingly, the main character is a priestess. I want to read from my backlist this year, but I’d also love to get into the habit of reading the physical books I buy fairly close to when I buy them so that I don’t end up with another huge backlist.
Read a book with the chosen one trope

I still need to read The Ruin of Kings by Jenn Lyons, which I’ve heard subverts the chosen one trope and I am all for fantasy books that subvert one of the oldest of the genre’s tropes, so it’s about time I gave it a try. It’s quite chunky, but I’ve heard good things!
Read whatever you want!
I’m leaving this option open for whatever I’m in the mood for! I might pick up something else from my Winter TBR or I might decide to take a break from all the fantasy on my TBR with a romance novel, but I’m quite glad to have the choice here when most of the books on my TBR this time are fairly chunky.
You are reading so many that are on my TBR! I hope you love them all!!

Hi Jess! Aaah, you always catch me with these things. I’m like a dog with a ball for a readathon. Don’t think I’ll get to it though…. School starts tomorrow and teaching physically in class and online.
But I am going to watch how you evolve into a princess….
