Um, no. No I did not.
For Top Ten Tuesday tomorrow I’ll be sharing my Winter TBR, so it’s time to check in and see how many of the books on my autumn TBR I read! Spoiler alert: Not as many as I should have.
I had so many exciting reading plans for autumn, and I was so excited by my TBR, but I had some of my slumpiest months in autumn and as the months wore on the books on my TBR no longer called to me the way they did when I made it.
Kingdom of Souls by Rena Barron
Grown by Tiffany D. Jackson
The King of Crows by Libba Bray
Cemetery Boys by Aiden Thomas
Tempting the Scoundrel by Katrina Kendrick
Undead Girl Gang by Lily Anderson
Seven Devils by Laura Lam and Elizabeth May
The Daughters of Temperance Hobbs by Katherine Howe
Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo
These Violent Delights by Chloe Gong
Yup. Of the ten books on my TBR, I read three–and one of them was a DNF. I think this is the worst I’ve done on my seasonal TBRs since I started doing these seasonal wrap-ups, which is such a disappointment.
Back in October I managed to get to both Undead Girl Gang and Cemetery Boys in time to review them for the spooky season and then, sadly, I picked up These Violent Delights for its pub date in November and ended up DNFing it because it just wasn’t for me. In fact even though I enjoyed Undead Girl Gang and Cemetery Boys, they were still only three star reads so I haven’t discovered any new favourites from this TBR yet. I did discover some new favourites this autumn, they simply weren’t on this list!
I’m still so excited to get to all of these at some point, but 2020 has been a hell year and these books simply weren’t doing it for me. I would really like to pick up The King of Crows soon to finish up that series, but I’m also putting it off because I know Bray isn’t afraid to hurt her characters and I love my 1920s babies.
Essentially autumn was not a good season for my TBR, so here’s hoping I do much better this winter!
