This tag was created by monica kim, sarawithoutanh and emmmabooks in celebration of their Diviners Readalong! I finally picked up The Diviners this month and I think I’m going to try and join in on the rest of the readalong and catch up with the series, so now seems like the perfect time to do this tag.
Roaring 20s
A 2020 release you can’t wait for
The Mercies is set in 17th century Norway and features witch trials and a sapphic romance. Naturally, I need it desperately.
That’s the berries (That’s wonderful)
A new release you loved
Silvia Moreno-Garcia is one of my favourite authors and I loved her latest release, Gods of Jade and Shadow, which also just happens to be set in the 1920s!
Now you’re on the trolley (Now you’re right)
A series that took a book or 2 to get good
I wasn’t a huge fan of the first book in the Book of the Ancestor series, Red Sister, but then I listened to the audiobook of Grey Sister and loved it. Sadly the final book, Holy Sister, was a bit of a flop for me, but I loved that second book!
Bluenose (Killjoy)
A book that put you in a reading slump
Son of the Shadows by Juliet Marillier was such a let-down for me, and I’m still sad about it.
Hotsy totsy (Attractive)
A book with a beautiful cover
I love the UK edition of Uprooted. Not only do I think the illustration is pretty, but I love the mint green colour, too!
Let’s blouse (Let’s get out of here)
A book you DNF’d
Sadly The Calculating Stars didn’t work for me and I thought I’d love it. I might give it another try, because I love the idea of it, but something about it just didn’t click with me and I felt like it was trying to be too many things at once.
Zoozled (Drunk)
A book that caused an epic book hangover
The day after I finished The Song of Achilles, I went into work and my colleague at the time thought someone I knew had died because I looked so distraught. I love this book and I’m still not over it.

The 20s was such a fun time, and I love that setting for books – the slang they used!
