Annemieke @ A Dance with Books has created a year-long reading challenge for 2019 with a focus on fantasy and sci-fi. I’ve gone on and on this year about how I’ve rediscovered my love for fantasy, so I couldn’t resist taking part.
What I love about this reading challenge is that because it’s a year-long challenge, I don’t need to make a strict TBR and try to stick to it. Instead I can read as normal and, whenever I read a fantasy book in 2019, see if it crosses off one of the prompts on the bingo card.
You can find out everything you need to know about this reading challenge on Annemieke’s blog here!
I’m going to be focusing on the Fantasy and General prompts because I don’t tend to lean towards sci-fi as much, but whenever I do read a piece of sci-fi in 2019 I’ll count it towards this challenge, too. My plan is to do updates through the year, so if you’re interested in that kind of thing you’ll be able to see my progress throughout 2019.
As I said above I’m not planning to make a strict TBR for this challenge, but I do already have an idea of some of the books I’d like to read for some of the prompts.

This isn’t a TBR I’m necessarily going to stick to, but these are some of the first books that popped into my head and a lot of them – Gods of Jade and Shadow; David Mogo, Godhunter; The Priory of the Orange Tree; The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms; As Old As Time; Labyrinth Lost; Of Sorrow and Such – are books I’d like to cross off my TBR at some point in 2019, so I should be able to use them for one of the prompts above even if it isn’t the prompt I initially thought.
Are you taking part in any reading challenges throughout 2019? Let me know down below!
I didn’t know about this challenge, but I’m really interested and might take part in it! I’ve been in a really big fantasy slump for most of this year, but it finally changed in November and I’m so glad to have rediscovered my love for the genre as well. 🙂
